mi prendo cura di te [un porto di quiete]

ongoing

The series Mi prendo di te [un porto di quiete] is an ongoing collection of images created through remote surveillance systems designed for children, portraying infants in cots beds and rooms, as they sleep and wake. These images, both video and photographs, found on websites and social networks, are often shared by parents themselves as family snapshots, and are becoming a place of identification between gaze control and memory. The memory lives in an intangible space, on the border between emotionality surveillance and surveillance capitalism, whose aesthetics superimposes itself on the representation of emotional everyday life.

The image chosen for the installation at Villa Brandolini shows a child from his back, while he’s turning towards the outside of the cot, as if seeking contact. The image, printed on a large canvas, acquired materiality and presence. Next to the print, a QR code refers to a video in which adult hands hold a babymonitor while two voices, one of a woman and one of a man, address their child through the electronic device. The QR code is the only link to see the video: the video is a part the site of the project, but it is impossible to join without the presence of the QR code.
